1. A total of 192 cows received either 0 (CTRL) or 12.9 gm/day choline ion (CHOL) in a ruminally protected form from 21 days prepartum to 21 days postpartum.
2. Cows fed CHOL during the transition period increased Energy Corrected Milk (ECM) by 1.9 kg/day (4.2 lb/day) over CTRL cows through 105 DIM.
3. Feed efficiency (kg ECM:kg DMI) increased in cows fed CHOL by 0.09 units over CTRL cows and averaged 2.1 through 105 DIM.
